The Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM) Bradenton has named fourth-year scholar, Dylan Thibaut, as its 2024 Student Researcher of the Year.
The College award comes in proud acknowledgment of Dylan Thibaut’s onward success as a 2024 National Student Researcher of the Year Award Finalist, receiving an Honorable Mention, from American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine (AACOM) Council of Osteopathic Student Government Presidents.
LECOM Bradenton faculty, as well as qualified members of the Student Research Association (SRA), had elected the assiduous scholar as the medical student from LECOM Bradenton to represent research excellence in the AACOM competition.
Thibaut then competed nationally against all other osteopathic medical schools in the nation.
This prestigious award recognizes Thibaut as one of the top three osteopathic medical student-researchers in the country.
“Before medical school,” commented the victorious scholar, “I began research in biochemistry education through my biomedical sciences and science education degrees, publishing my findings as an undergraduate thesis. I soon found myself combining education and medical research in medical school, publishing a textbook to help my peers,” noted the Award Finalist.
Ultimately Thibaut founded the LECOM Bradenton SRA Summer Research Program, and as the prior SRA President, he trained twenty-five medical students in research. His Program resulted in nine publications during its first two years.
Topics of his research include: teaching English for speakers of other languages, HLA sequencing meta-analyses, donor conception survey-based studies, biochemistry as well as microbial metabolism, active learning curricula development, statistical analyses, and autoimmune disease.
It is evident that this scholar’s hard work, dedication, and commitment to excellence are central to his success.
With an array of accomplishments including fourteen peer-reviewed publications, one written book, several research poster presentations, multiple research awards and the founding of the LECOM Bradenton Summer Research Program, Dylan Thibaut demonstrates his devotion to enhancing the academic landscape for his peers.
Dylan Thibaut exemplifies an outstanding standard for his fellow students and he contributes positively to the prestige of his Alma Mater.
