Huge congratulations to Dr. Eun Choi, Dr. Inessa Slipak, Dr. William Bell, Ahmad Ahmad, Andie Kim, and Nathan Quint on their latest publication entitled “Three-dimensional morphometric analysis of anterior maxillary arch anatomy using cone-beam computed tomography: Reference values, structural relationships, and clinical implications for tooth positioning” published in Imaging Science in Dentistry on Sept. 11, 2026.

Master of Medical Science (MMS) students at LECOM Bradenton recently participated in a podiatric surgery workshop, gaining hands-on experience with surgical techniques and procedures.
Coordinated by Dr. Ehredt, Dean of LECOM’s School of Podiatric Medicine, the workshop was held in partnership with Dr. Matthew Dougherty, Dr. Dafeamekpor, MCR Health, and podiatric residents.
This interactive experience gave students a unique opportunity to learn directly from healthcare professionals and explore the field of podiatric medicine.

OMS-II Sachit Sudharshan shares the disarticulated skull he created on a 3D printer. Student Doctor Sudharshan learned from a design shared on a 3D printing community website. He was able to print – and now learn from – the design. Magnets were placed on the individual bones so the skull can be taken apart and put back together easily – as long as you know your anatomy!

LECOM was proud to attend the ribbon-cutting ceremony for Manatee Health’s new freestanding emergency room in Parrish, Florida!
Dr. Anthony Furiato, Regional Dean overseeing LECOM’s BayCare, Tampa, and AdventHealth Sebring rotation sites, joined community and healthcare leaders to celebrate this exciting addition to the region.
Congratulations to Manatee Health on this milestone and its continued commitment to expanding access to quality healthcare for our growing community!

Abigail Abraham, OMV-IV from LECOM Bradenton, delivered a podium presentation, “Artificial Intelligence Translation in Pediatric Refugee Health: Clinical, Ethical, and Equity Considerations,” at the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) National Conference and Exhibition in San Diego, CA, this month.

Abigail’s talk underscores the value of artificial intelligence for improving access to healthcare for refugee children and families, particularly in resource-limited, high-volume, or emergency settings. This presentation also notes that current tools are not reliable substitutes for professional interpreters and may exacerbate inequalities without ethical safeguards

Students from across LECOM’s campuses, alumni, and faculty all converged on this year’s Osteopathic Medical Education Conference at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas! Held annually by the American Osteopathic Association, https://osteopathic.org/
the conference brings together thousands of osteopathic physicians and students from around the country.

LECOM Erie’s Lindsay Cain was awarded the Golden Ticket Grand Prize, receiving a $15,000 scholarship in addition to $5,000 awarded to six Golden Ticket finalists.

LECOM alumna Brie Howerton, D.O., was recognized with the 2026 Outstanding Resident of the Year in Emergency Medicine.

Another alumna, Sara Ann Lohbauer, D.O., received the 2026 State Emerging Leader Award.

Congratulations to all, and thanks to all of our students for representing LECOM with distinction.

Dr. Ningning Yang, Director of Student Services at LECOM School of Pharmacy in Bradenton, spent time with Teens for Teens at Osprey Library, leading an AI-literacy workshop for local teens and introducing students and parents to the pharmacy profession.
Her talk, "Your Brain in the Age of AI," challenged students with a big question: does AI help our learning, or replace it? Meanwhile, our "We Become Pharmacists" table sparked great conversations about pathways into pharmacy school. Today's curious teen is tomorrow's pharmacist.
